This volume is part of a three-part publication series that takes a comprehensive look at the role of sustainability in sales. The basis of the study is a descriptive analysis, whose underlying methodology and sample are described in detail in the methodology section of the volume.
This third and final part of this series examines in detail which internal sustainability-related measures are already being implemented by the companies surveyed or which employees believe should be implemented in the future.
In order to provide a comprehensive overview of the current implementation status of sustainability in sales, the findings are divided into the following categories:
1. measures that are currently already being implemented,
2. measures that are planned for the near future (1-2 years),
3. measures that the respondents believe should be implemented but are not currently planned, and
4. measures which, in the view of the respondents, would provide the most effective support for the implementation of sustainability aspects in sales.
Particular attention is paid to the implementation of ESG criteria, which form the basis for sustainable action in the company. The subsequent analysis is structured according to the three pillars of the ESG criteria:
- Environmental measures (Environmental) - focus on environmental sustainability and compliance with the EU taxonomy,
- Social measures (Social) - promotion of social sustainability and improvement of working conditions,
- Governance measures (Governance) - creation of transparent and sustainable corporate structures.
The focus on the three pillars of sustainability (ecological, social and economic sustainability) enables a holistic view of sustainable development in sales. The analysis shows which strategies and measures are currently being implemented, what potential still exists and how the implementation of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) can be driven forward in sales.
