Since February 2024, there have been numerous decisions on EU antitrust law that are of great importance for practitioners and academics. Following on from Horstkotte/Wingerter/Gerhold-Kempf IWRZ 2024, IWRZ Year 2024 page 59, this article highlights the most important decisions of the European Commission and the European Courts in the core areas of EU antitrust law. In the area of EU antitrust law, these include the ECJ's decisions on whether the exchange of information between competitors violates antitrust law and on the application of best price clauses on online platforms. With regard to abuse proceedings, the European Commission imposed significant fines on Apple and Meta. In addition, European courts ruled in important fine cases involving Google and Intel. In merger control - which is the subject of the second article - there was, among other things, a landmark decision by the ECJ in the Illumina/Grail case, which clarified the Commission's jurisdiction for takeovers that do not reach the merger control thresholds.
