About the project
The performance of heat exchangers can be improved by controlling frictional effects and increasing the heat transfer surface. A product line is being developed with the aim of reducing the amount of material used in production and improving heat transfer performance. For this purpose, a finned tube available on the market from Schmöle GmbH is being investigated using the ANSYS© Fluent flow simulation software. The results can be validated with existing measurement data. For given operating parameters, a swirl tube with minimal wall thickness optimized for low pressure loss and high thermal efficiency is to be developed. In order to avoid damage, the thermal stresses and the fluid mechanically excited vibrations are investigated using fluid structure interaction (FSI) simulation. The product properties obtained will be digitized and used to support sales in the development of new markets and applications.
