May 3 to 10, 2025 is "Freedom of Expression Week"! The German Publishers and Booksellers Association has been organizing this campaign week for five years to draw attention to the importance of this fundamental right (Article 5 of the German Basic Law) for democratic society in Germany. Many libraries and the German Library Association are also taking part nationwide. This year, the motto of the week is "Arguing? Absolutely!". The focus is therefore on the culture of debate and the ability to debate in society.
The Fachhochschule Dortmund library is drawing its users' attention to the campaign week with posters and an Instagram post. From May 5 to 10, there will also be a small exhibition of printed books on freedom of expression and related topics such as freedom of the press, expressing opinions online, media law and forming public opinion at the Emil-Figge-Str. 44 location. The books can be found on the new books shelf and can be borrowed. The exhibition is supplemented by a list of e-books with corresponding links to the title in the RiO literature search engine (see below).

FH members can read or download all e-books online via VPN (depending on the publisher's terms and conditions). Some titles have been published Open Access and are therefore freely accessible to all interested parties, even without university affiliation.
