Seven members were appointed for a further term of office. With Evi Carola Hoch, Prof. Achim Schmidtmann and Prof. Jan Ehlers, the university was able to gain three new members for the committee. This means that the University Council will be able to conduct business for the next five years.

The University Council of Fachhochschule Dortmund consists of ten members, of which a maximum of three are from the university. The Higher Education Act of North Rhine-Westphalia specifies the various tasks: The Council advises the Rectorate, supervises the management and meets at least four times a year. Among other things, it makes recommendations and comments on the university development plan, the statement of accounts and other reports, as well as matters relating to research, art, teaching and studies.
The Council members are also part of the university electoral assembly, which elects and, if necessary, dismisses the members of the Rectorate, including the Rector and Chancellor.
