Robots at Work in Gran Canaria: Anna's Makeathon

How the energy transition can succeed is one of the big questions Anna is exploring in her studies. Sometimes, though, she also works on smaller projects, such as building a robot that autonomously collects cigarette butts. That was her assignment at the Makeathon in Gran Canaria. In this episode, she describes what it was like there, what life is like for her at Fachhochschule Dortmund, and why her study program is such a good fit for her.

Rescue Robots for the Fire Department: DRZ. Jonas' Research Project

In an emergency, rescue robots must be able to be equipped for the specific situation and task at hand. Jonas is part of a team at the Institute for the Digital Transformation of Application and Living Domains (IDiAL) at the Fachhochschule Dortmund researching how this can be achieved in a matter of seconds. In this episode, Jonas explains how he’s doing this and how he’s even using it to finance his studies.
The episode also covers his life as a student at the University of Applied Sciences and in Dortmund.

Insulation made from hair: cut4all. The startup founded by Nils and Gero

Nils and Gero turn hair clippings from hair salons into a material for sound and energy insulation. The result is sustainable, eco-friendly, hypoallergenic, and cost-effective. The idea came to them while they were in college, since energy-efficient building materials are an important topic in architecture.
They also talk about their lives as students, both at the university and in Dortmund.
