Dr. Julian Grote

I am Dr. Julian Grote, deputy professor for Business Mathematics and Statistics at the Faculty of Business Studies. I work as a data science consultant at fuseki GmbH(Opens in a new tab)  in Essen.

I am looking forward to working for and with the students.

I am a member of the Senate Commission for Studies, Teaching and Quality Assurance(Opens in a new tab)  elected by the Senate of Fachhochschule Dortmund. I am also very happy to be an official HDW mentor(Opens in a new tab)  at Fachhochschule Dortmund.

Current (international) research projects:

• Together with Prof. Lars Fischer from Fachhochschule Dortmund University of Applied Sciences and Arts and Prof. José Alejandro Cano Arenas from the University of Medellin in Colombia: Optimization of production schedules under stochastic demand.

• Together with Prof. Tim Gruchmann from Fachhochschule Dortmund: Analysis of video recordings of interviews using AI-supported facial emotion recognition methods to link emotional dynamics in facial expressions with theoretical concepts of emotion research from logistics and management research.

For me, teaching is not just a profession, but a vocation. I am therefore particularly pleased that my commitment during my participation in the Career Path FH Professorship funding program at Bochum University of Applied Sciences was rated as outstanding and exemplary and that I was awarded the Bochum University of Applied Sciences Teaching Prize(Opens in a new tab)  for 2022.

In order to optimize my didactic qualification and to improve the quality and sustainability of my own teaching, I regularly attend courses at the Hochschulidaktisches Weiterbildungswerk(hdw nrw(Opens in a new tab) ). In particular, I completed the Professional University Teaching I certificate program(Opens in a new tab)  and deepened the content I learned with the Professional University Teaching II certificate(Opens in a new tab) .
