Summer School "Sustainable Ressort" BALI with international guest professor

Published

As part of the "Internationalization of Studies and Teaching" funding programme, the two-week summer school "BALI" took place from 14 to 25 October 2024 at the Faculty of Architecture under the direction of Prof. Christine Remensperger. Together with the guest professor Prof. Gusti Ayu Made Suartika, PhD. (lecturer at Udayana University in Denpasar, Bali, Indonesia), the module "Special Areas of Architecture" was taught in an intensive two-week seminar.

Here, 13 students each developed a design for a "sustainable resort" in the context of Balinese culture and landscape. In addition to the use of local resources, the focus was on traditional architecture and the rich building culture of Bali. The focus was also on the tropical climate, dealing with the topography and incorporating views of the water and the charming landscape. There was also a digital insight into the working methods of the students in a design class at Udayana University.

All of the students were highly motivated and worked intensively on their concepts every day using models and drawings, thus presenting a coherent result at the end in a continuous process. A further exchange with the visiting professor is planned for the near future.

Many thanks to Guido Kollert, Emily Wiese and Laura Wiederhold for accompanying the workshop (model making and photography).
