Prof. Dr. Katja Nowacki(Opens in a new tab) , Dean of the Faculty of Applied Social Studies(Opens in a new tab) , has recently published, in collaboration with Prof. Dr. Richard Günder, the 7th updated edition of the book "Practice and Methods of Residential Care — Developments, Changes, and Perspectives in Residential Educational Support."
Extensive updates and enhancements
After 26 years and a total of six previous editions, further changes to the content have now become necessary. The updated edition, for example, takes into account the changes provided for in the Act on Strengthening Children and Youth and highlights new findings in the field of research.
The statistical data has been updated and reinterpreted across the board. It is evident that more young people require this form of youth welfare services.
A severe shortage of qualified professionals is also complicating matters in practice. Several other topics, such as addressing sexuality and diversity in residential care, have been expanded upon.
