Professor Emra Ilgün-Birhimeoğlu welcomes the participants

The FaWeRa symposium in the Faculty of Applied Social Studies(Opens in a new tab)  was fully booked and met with great interest. Participants included practitioners, migrant organizations, academics and students. The conference thus offered an interdisciplinary framework for professional exchange and joint reflection.

Focus on research results

The focus was on the initial results of the project Familial Transmission of Strategies for Dealing with Racism ( FaWeRa for short), led by Prof. Dr. Emra Ilgün-Birhimeoğlu(Opens in a new tab) , which were presented and discussed in the plenary session. In the subsequent workshops, key content was explored in greater depth, exchanged and reflected upon. A particular focus was placed on the question of what significance the previous findings have for practice and what impulses can be derived from them for further work.

Organization by project team

The conference was organized and conducted by Emra Ilgün-Birhimeoğlu together with Nejra Dedić-Demirović, Dilan Bor and Bashir Mirzaii. The welcome address was given by the Dean of the Faculty of Applied Social Studies, Prof. Dr. Katja Nowacki(Opens in a new tab) , who supports the project and the subject area.

The project is financed by internal university research funding (HIFF) and funds from the faculty.
