Profile
In the laboratory on the premises of the Research and Technology Center for Load Securing Selm at Fachhochschule Dortmund, work is carried out on pioneering ideas for vehicle development. The laboratory has a well-equipped workshop with a lifting platform including exhaust extraction. There are also electronics laboratories and a number of offices and library classrooms to optimally integrate the location into the research and teaching of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering.
The test site consists of three test modules for driving tests. The modules are equipped with different obstacle variants and different weather conditions can be simulated. Module 1 of the three modules is a circular track with a diameter of 73 m for cornering. Module 2 is a downhill track with a gradient of up to 8% for uphill and downhill runs. Module three is equipped with a skid plate so that the skidding behavior can also be tested with the aid of a large aquaplaning area. In general, the test track is ideal for testing driver assistance systems.
Unfortunately, the video "FH-Kooperation Forschungsstrecke" provided here cannot be displayed.
The use of a test track has been made possible by a cooperation between the Fachhochschule Dortmund (Department of Mechanical Engineering) and the Forschungs- und Technologiezentrum Ladungssicherung Selm gGmbH (LaSiSe). For the future, the FH and the LaSiSe research team are planning joint research projects with a special focus on load securing.
