26.09 - 29.09.2023 - EAIE Conference Rotterdam
The 33rd annual EAIE Conference and Exhibition took place in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, from September 26-29 and was a great success. Over 6,700 participants from more than 100 countries attended this important event.
The EAIE exhibition is known worldwide for its collaborative opportunities and promotion of diversity and openness. This year, more than 240 exhibitors were on site in Rotterdam, and the exhibition helped to re-establish old partnerships and make new contacts.
This year was the first time that the Faculty of Information Technology was represented at the EAIE conference. We, Professor Björn Schäfer and Lilli Riesenweber, took the opportunity to attend the conference. We attended numerous courses, continued our education and looked for new partnerships and collaborations. The next few months will show whether new and exciting partnerships will emerge. Professor Björn Schäfer took the opportunity to meet our new partners from Spain at their stand, which led to interesting discussions. The experience gained and the new knowledge will certainly make a valuable contribution to our everyday work.
We are delighted with the successful participation and the opportunities arising from the EAIE conference and exhibition. This is an important step in our mission to further expand our international presence and cooperation. We are also planning to participate in the EAIE conference in Toulouse next year 2024(EAIE Toulouse 2024)(Opens in a new tab) and are already looking forward to returning to Fachhochschule Dortmund with many new impressions and new knowledge.

03.07.2023 - MedTec Summer Academy 2023
Dipl.-Ing. Vincent Fleischhauer took part in the MedTec Summer Academy 2023 in Horn near Vienna in July, which was organized by the FH Technikum Wien. During the event, he presented an impressive 45-minute lecture on his research topic as part of his doctorate entitled "Non-contact vital sign monitoring from videos".
In his lecture, Mr. Fleischhauer explained the functionality as well as the signal and image processing in the context of imaging photoplethysmography. In addition, he deepened the understanding of three special applications:
1. patient monitoring
2. recording microcirculation and risk assessment
3. evaluation of skin lesions
The MedTec Summer Academy Keynote 2023 was undoubtedly an inspiring event.
It is possible that Fachhochschule Dortmund will also be represented next year by outstanding researchers such as Vincent Fleischhauer. The official website of the MedTec Summer Academy 2024 can be found at the following link:(https://www.medtecacademy.at/)(Opens in a new tab) .
We look forward to seeing the advances in this exciting field of research and how these technologies will impact medical practice in the future.
07.02. - 08.02.2023 - Kaunas
Kaunas University of Technology (KTU) invited its ERASMUS+ partner universities - including Fachhochschule Dortmund - to the KTU Partners Days 2023 and the GO Abroad Fair 2023.
Representatives from the ESIEA Graduate School of Engineering (France), UIT The Arctic University of Norway, HTWK Leipzig and Wrocław University Of Science and Technology (Poland) and the Faculty of Information Technology at Fachhochschule Dortmund met in Kaunas at the beginning of February 2023.
The program included a tour of the campus to get to know the university and a workshop on student mobility. In addition, we were able to network with the participants of the KTU Partners Days and talk to selected KTU research institutes about common interests and projects.
Kaunas really impressed us as a student city and, with its diverse gastronomy and numerous bars as well as its love of basketball (comparable to BVB), offers the best conditions for a great student life.
The university also has a very modern library with individual rooms that can be booked, a kitchen and places to sleep, e.g. for a little nap at lunchtime.
14.11. - 18.11.2022 - International Week
