On October 22, 2026, we will screen the film “Clashing Differences” as part of the “Science Meets Fiction – Film & Reflection”(Opens in a new tab) at the Faculty of Applied Social Studies led by Prof. Dr. Emra Ilgün-Birhimeoğlu(Opens in a new tab) and Prof. Dr. Dierk Borstel at thProf. Dr. Emra Ilgün-Birhimeoğlu(Opens in a new tab) and Prof. Dr. Dierk Borstel(Opens in a new tab) at the Schauburg Dortmund. Following the screening, the film will be used as a social science case study during a moderated discussion.
A satirical yet serious look at debates surrounding feminism and identity politics
Together with Dr. Münevver Azizoğlu-Bazan, we analyze how the film addresses conflicts surrounding representation, belonging, discrimination, and social participation. The focus is on questions of tokenism and institutional diversity: Who gains access to spaces and decision-making power? Who should speak for whom? And under what
conditions can solidarity and collective political action emerge despite differing
experiences and positions?
The film offers a satirical yet serious perspective on feminist and identity-political debates.
Partnership with Sunrise Dortmund
The project takes place in cooperation with Sunrise Dortmund(Opens in a new tab) , a youth education and counseling facility in Dortmund for all young LGBPATINQ+ people up to the age of 23, their relatives and educational staff.

- Ends at 9:30 p.m.
