Loving your child yet regretting motherhood—can those two go together? The phenomenon of “regretting motherhood” is often met with silence, even though it affects mothers worldwide and raises profound questions about societal expectations, gender roles, and individual life realities.
Prof. Dr. Doris Erbe teaches in the Faculty of Applied Social Studies at Fachhochschule Dortmund and has been researching this topic for many years. On October 14, 2026, she will give an online lecture on this topic at the Catholic German Women’s Association. Participation is free of charge; registration is not required.
In her talk, she will take a nuanced, unbiased look at a phenomenon that affects many people but that hardly anyone speaks about openly. She will provide context, highlight different perspectives, and suggest possible ways to address it.
