On September 15, 2025, the transdisciplinary conference "Universal Design as Transdisciplinary Practice" will take place at Fachhochschule Dortmund. The event has the motto "Are you still a barrier or are you already inclusive?" and brings together experts from science, practice and self-advocacy to discuss and practically test innovative methods and interventions for inclusion in urban spaces.
Program highlights
- Scientific lectures and panel discussions, including on methods and measures for low-barrier cities
- Innovative real-world laboratories and pop-up activities for participatory urban design
- Interactive installations and exhibitions, including a 360-degree dome installation
- Film premiere followed by a discussion
The event offers opportunities for active participation and exchange with experts from architecture, social sciences, computer science and other disciplines. Particular attention will be paid to the perspectives of people with dementia and Parkinson's in order to incorporate sustainable, universal design criteria into urban design.
