Recognition and crediting of academic and non-academic achievements

Under certain conditions, recognition of academic and non-academic achievements is possible.

Procedure and required documents

Whether credits can be recognized is checked at the earliest after enrolment and application. The examination is carried out by the responsible examination board. The legal basis is §63a HG NRW and §8 of the Framework Examination Regulations for the Bachelor's and Master's degree programs at Fachhochschule Dortmund.

As a rule, the following documents are required:

  • Completed application for recognition. The applications can be found on the intranet. Students receive access after enrollment.
  • Transcript of grades from the previous university. In the case of foreign universities, the grades must be converted in advance by the International Office
  • Module description of the modules to be recognized by the previous university (with German or English translation if necessary)

The application cannot be processed without these documents! The applicant must provide the necessary information for an adequate examination(obligation to cooperate).

Achievements outside of higher education can also be recognized, provided that they are equivalent to the higher education achievements that are to be replaced by the recognition.

We recommend submitting applications for recognition/credit transfer as soon as possible after enrolment. The decision on the application may take several weeks.
