Today's management systems for warehouses (WMS), transports (TMS) etc. are characterized by the storage of structured data. However, the introduction of cyber-physical systems (CPS) in the course of Industry 4.0 is resulting in a growing volume of increasingly unstructured data with different generation frequencies and unequal importance for planning and operations, particularly in logistics. Future IT systems will have to adapt to this. Semantic information layers offer the possibility of efficiently storing the image of real systems on the cyber level in an accessible manner. Chatbots based on machine learning, i.e. text-based dialog systems, enable the user to extract information from this data using natural language, as shown by the example of the "Sherlock Bot" developed at Fraunhofer ISST.
