Simulation of particle motion is a frequently studied problem in flow-based Monte Carlo simulations. In the case of channel networks, the behavior of particles near branching points has received less attention in the literature. We present initial simulation results on how particles divide in channel networks based on 3D simulations. A distinct separation line is identified, which enables simplified particle simulations.
