About the project
The project "Material to the power of 3" shows the results of the practical exercise of the course Building Materials Technology 1 of the winter semester 2024/2025.
The responsibility of future architects in the use of building materials with regard to resource conservation and energy efficiency of buildings is therefore an elementary component of teaching and research.
The task of the practical exercise accompanying the semester was to examine materials both as construction and design components. The students analyzed a material of their choice and created a material sample in the specified dimensions and according to the design specifications. They then worked out the technical data for the building material and product under supervision.
The aim of these practical exercises was to train perception for a better understanding in later practical working life and to raise awareness of the versatility of materials and the different possible applications of building materials.
This resulted in over 80 individual material samples, which are presented in the material archive of the Building Materials Technology Laboratory and are thus available to students, staff and lecturers of the Faculty of Architecture as a source of information.
