Every year in May, around 15 students from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and some professors visit the Université de Picardie Jules Verne (UPJV) in Amiens for a week. And every autumn, the students who had previously visited receive their former hosts at Fachhochschule Dortmund - as was the case most recently at the end of November 2024. By acquiring ECTS points, the student participants were able to record a study-relevant achievement for the first time. During each visit, the participants also consider how they can further develop the partnership.

Current studies on internationalization

  • International experience as a competitive advantage: study shows high relevance for companies

A joint study(Opens in a new tab)  by the NA DAAD and the Cologne Institute for Economic Research (IW) sheds light on the importance of experience and skills gained by students during a stay abroad as part of their studies and/or internship. Overall, the study shows that internationally educated and socialized students are important both for continuing international cooperation and for shaping the growing diversity of our national societies as a result of migration and the recruitment of skilled workers.
