Since April 2025, Tim Krüger has been the Information Security Officer at Fachhochschule Dortmund, ensuring greater security in everyday digital life. His main task is to set up and continuously develop an information security management system (ISMS).
In addition to his technical expertise, he also contributes organizational measures to increase information security. This includes counseling faculties, close cooperation with data protection, IT, organization and university management and the implementation of strategic security guidelines.
His current focus is on completing the basic ISMS documentation, initial risk analyses and implementing key protective measures. "The introduction and ongoing maintenance of the ISMS are a priority for me," he emphasizes.
"Raising awareness and open collaboration"
For him, information security is more than just technology and documents: "In the long term, it is important to me to firmly anchor the topic in the university culture through training, awareness-raising and open collaboration," explains Krüger. This includes the further development of the system and transparent documentation.
In future, Krüger would like to be in regular contact with university employees, for example at information events, training courses or when introducing new processes. He is also the right contact person for questions, uncertainties or specific incidents relating to information security.
The graduate philosopher and political scientist is already familiar with Fachhochschule Dortmund: he previously worked as a research assistant in the "Smart Care Service" project and as a teacher, and completed further training in information security management.
