A cop at the MOP

Where design students usually come and go, a police star was suddenly emblazoned on Thursday (10 July): WDR was a guest at the MOP and filmed scenes for the Dortmund crime scene. The faculty's venerable building became a place of law for a few hours.

"Pain" is the working title of the 27th crime scene featuring the Dortmund investigation team. In it, Chief Inspector Peter Faber (Jörg Hartmann) and Chief Inspector Rosa Herzog (Stefanie Reinsperger) have to deal with the aftermath of the war in Yugoslavia: a story about war trauma, revenge and loyalty, which is set in Dortmund's red-light district, among other places.

Anyone walking to or past the MOP could observe a production team in action.

The production company Bavaria had chosen the charming building of the Faculty of Design for one or more scenes and asked if it could be filmed there - including blocking the driveway for several hours. The UAS facility management and the faculty's dean's office made it possible despite the examination phase.

As it turned out, most of the employees were unaware of the actual purpose of the building. They were interested to learn that this is exactly where the film and sound specialists of tomorrow are trained.

Suddenly with a star: The entrance door to the MOP.

As usual, little is known about the content of the episode with the working title "Pain" before the premiere: Several murders in the red-light district initially appear to be the result of a dispute between criminals, until it turns out that a war criminal living here under a false name is involved. The case opens up personal wounds for Ira Klasnić (Alessija Lause), head of the Dortmund homicide squad.

Other filming locations in Dortmund include the transshipment point at the harbor, the Bergmannkiosk on Wall, the police headquarters and the hospital district. Filming will continue until the end of July. The episode is due to be broadcast next year.
