Lively conversations, warm reunions and new contacts: On Friday, July 4, 2025, the Faculty of Computer Science celebrated its first alumni reunion - embedded in the summery hustle and bustle of this year's SommerFHest.
Fifteen graduates of the faculty had announced their attendance - in fact, more than 20 alumni came together throughout the day. Together with lecturers, staff and current students, the faculty's stand became a lively meeting place on campus.
The first result was organized by Prof. Dr. Gabriele Kunau and Alparslan Kirman, the faculty's alumni representative. Both were very excited about the day - and a little nervous beforehand:
"I'm still really excited about our alumni stand," said Prof. Dr. Gabriele Kunau. "Beforehand, I was a bit nervous about whether people would come at all. And then we were a particularly lively and busy stand at the summer festival!"
Whether it was a quick visit, a spontaneous reunion or a longer conversation - many alumni took the opportunity to talk to former fellow students, lecturers and staff in a relaxed atmosphere and strengthen their ties to the faculty.
"This was an important first step for us," adds Alparslan Kirman. "We wanted to create an uncomplicated opportunity to meet again - and it worked wonderfully. The exchange was personal, respectful and full of good ideas for the future."
The successful premiere should not remain a one-off: Next year's SommerFHest will once again provide an opportunity for an alumni reunion - with even more faces, stories and shared memories.
The Faculty of Computer Science is already looking forward to seeing you again.
