Fachhochschule Dortmund and the Allgemeiner Deutscher Fahrrad-Club (ADFC) offered a cycling course for international students for the first time. Basic rules were explained on the training grounds of the youth traffic school in Fredenbaumpark before heading out together into the traffic jungle on the streets of Dortmund's Nordstadt district.
The International Office and mobility management at Fachhochschule Dortmund want to support students from other countries with this offer and allow them to participate in the mobility transition in Germany. Moritz Niermann from Mobility Management: "We have a large international student community at Fachhochschule Dortmund. The bike course offers students the opportunity to explore Dortmund in an environmentally friendly way and helps to ensure that students feel safe and comfortable during their stay in Dortmund."
The ADFC contributed its many years of experience and expertise in the field of cycling. The participants received theoretical instruction on traffic rules and regulations in Germany and then gained practical experience to enable them to cycle safely in traffic. This new knowledge was then applied directly on a bike tour through Dortmund's Nordstadt district.
