60 students from Fachhochschule Dortmund's partner universities in the Euclides network successfully took part in two international Master's block weeks in March 2025 as part of the Erasmus+ Blended Intensive Program (BIP).

During a block week, you can not only escape the daily routine of studying and devote yourself intensively to a topic. Especially in the international Master's program of the Euclides network, participation in a block week also allows you to meet other international students at one of the partner universities to gain new knowledge and insights and to make new friends.

This year, the "VR/AR Block Week" started on March 10, 2025 at the Emil-Figge-Straße campus and was supplemented by the "Automotive Systems Block Week", which opened its doors at the Sonnenstraße campus on March 17, 2025. This was yet another international block week at Fachhochschule Dortmund. During this intensive period, students can learn and grow in international and interdisciplinary teams on exciting tasks with practical relevance. In addition to lectures and exercises, laboratory tours and guest lectures from industry are also integral parts of the international Master's courses.

By hosting the two BIP block weeks, Dortmund University of Applied Sciences and Arts was able to become a partner in a network of international universities and thus also promote its own international Master's program.

Automotive Systems Block Week

The "Automotive Systems Block Week" focuses on the field of automotive systems engineering with reference to driver assistance systems. Functions for the autonomous braking of vehicles to avoid collisions served as a practical use case. The students, divided into several teams, developed their own functions, which they were then able to test in practice with a vehicle in the BitLab.

VR/AR Block Week

Just three kilometers away as the crow flies, the "VR/AR Block Week" was all about virtual and data-enriched realities. Examples were used to examine the possibilities of using new technologies, for example for urban planning or exhibiting virtual art in real space. However, it was not just about the application itself, but also about project plans and business models that are important in order to be successful with such an application. The international students were able to contribute their experience in marketing and management.
