The traveling exhibition for the prestigious German Brick Award 2024 was officially opened at the Faculty of Architecture on Monday, June 2, 2025. The exhibition presents outstanding student and professional projects from professional practice that are characterized by an innovative and high-quality use of brick as a building material.
The opening began with a stimulating round of lectures in the faculty's lecture hall. Annette Drosdeck kicked things off by giving a brief insight into the German Brick Award and introducing this year's participants and award winners.
Yannick Pickhard, Master's graduate and lecturer at the faculty, then presented his award-winning design for the renovation of a prefabricated building in Leipzig's Grünau district. Dayna Hülsevoort, a Master's student and also a lecturer, presented her project for the reconstruction of the Poolstrasse Synagogue in Hamburg - a sensitive and impressive design that was honored with the student award. Finally, Prof. Jost Haberland gave an insight into the Potsdam Synagogue Center project, which was awarded the main prize in the "multi-layered wall" category and was realized by his office.
Afterwards, a get-together in the foyer of the faculty offered space for personal exchange and in-depth discussions about the award-winning projects.
The exhibition will be on display in the foyer of the Faculty of Architecture until June 13, 2025.
