Graduation ceremony 2025 at the Faculty of Computer Science

Published

A full house, beaming faces and sunshine: On Friday, 9 May 2025, the Faculty of Computer Science at Dortmund University of Applied Sciences and Arts celebrated the graduates of the summer semester 2024 and winter semester 2024/25. 131 students received their certificates in a festive atmosphere - accompanied by family, friends, lecturers and companions.

Prof. Dr. Daniel Hamburg

After a convivial reception with drinks and initial discussions in the foyer, the event began in lecture hall A.E.01. Prof. Dr. Daniel Hamburg, Dean of the Faculty, welcomed the guests with warm words. In his bilingual address in German and English, he also specifically addressed the families and friends of the international graduates - and then created a relaxed and cheerful atmosphere with an entertaining faculty quiz.

Prof. Dr. Gabriele Kunau

Vice Dean and Alumni Representative Prof. Dr. Gabriele Kunau then gave an outlook on what is to come: new paths, new challenges - and a new role. She made it clear that although a chapter ends with the graduation, the mutual bond continues even as an alumna or alumnus.

Marius Khan, Alumnus

An inspiring keynote speech by Marius Khan, co-founder and CEO of avisé labs and himself an alumnus of the faculty, gave the graduates courage and confidence for their future path. He spoke openly and authentically about his path from studying to founding a start-up - about fears, courage, detours and opportunities.

The certificates were then presented to great applause - accompanied by personal souvenir photos and proud looks throughout the lecture hall.

The emotional highlight was provided by singer Jay Oh, winner of "Das Supertalent". With the song "Ein Hoch auf uns" (Cheers to us), he brought the celebration to a musical close - a powerful moment that led directly to the ceremonial toss of the hat at the group photo.

In sunny weather, between the faculty and KostBar, the celebrations continued with snacks, drinks and a relaxed atmosphere. The photo box of the Fachhochschule Dortmund Alumni Service also provided special memories.

The Faculty of Computer Science congratulates all graduates on their successful graduation, thanks them for their time together and looks forward to seeing them again - as part of our alumni offers, at events or whenever our paths cross again.
