Graduation ceremony at the Faculty of Architecture

Published

On Thursday, October 2, 2025, the Faculty of Architecture at Dortmund University of Applied Sciences and Arts hosted a farewell ceremony for the graduates of the summer semester's Bachelor's and Master's degree programs.

The evening was opened by Chancellor Svenja Stepper, who encouraged students to recognize their own achievements and consciously celebrate this special moment under the motto "Harvest Day". The Dean's Office, represented by Prof. Diana Reichle, also bid farewell to the students with an impressive speech. Supported by artificial intelligence, she gave the architects Vitruvius, Le Corbusier and Lina Bo Bardi a symbolic voice. An original idea that was a highlight of the evening for many. As part of the official presentation of certificates, they congratulated the young architects on their successful graduation. Out of a total of 65 graduates, 44 Bachelor's and Master's graduates attended the ceremony in person.

Graduates Volkan Durmus, Lennart Fabian Girkes, Lisa Rupnow and Timo Weltersbach received special recognition for their outstanding theses. They were awarded the "wettbewerbe aktuell" prize and received an annual subscription to the specialist journal of the same name. The program was hosted by Eva Paar, who presented the evening with charm and humor.

Following the ceremonial presentation of certificates, the traditional exhibition in the building provided an opportunity to discover the graduates' final projects. In a relaxed atmosphere, the successful graduation was celebrated well into the evening with many stimulating conversations, encounters and a warm reunion. Janine Bruder, Alumni Representative from the Department of University Communication, once again provided a photo box to commemorate this special evening. Many guests took the opportunity to take souvenir photos and celebrate together.

Special thanks go to the faculty's Fasta, whose commitment before and during the event once again contributed significantly to the success of this festive evening.
