Profiles in the degree programs

The first study section is the prerequisite for successful admission to the TaSK profile program. The following courses must be attended and the following coursework (SLs) and additional coursework (ZLs) must be completed specifically for TaSK:

In Stage III, all courses are offered on assignment and are reserved exclusively for students in the profile.

This certificate contains events that are relevant to working with children, young people and their families. This mainly concerns the tasks of public and independent youth welfare organizations, which are anchored in the Social Code VIII.

Basic pedagogical, psychological and legal knowledge is just as important here as a methodical approach, e.g. in counseling. Procedures in child protection as well as differences and similarities in comparison with other European countries are also taught.

Requirements for a certificate:
It is possible to obtain a certificate under certain conditions. To do so, the course must be marked in the course catalog as part of the "Help for Children, Adolescents and their Families" certificate and a qualified certificate of attendance must be submitted. The conditions for qualified proof of participation are determined by the respective lecturers of the courses themselves.

The courses must be located in 3 different modules and have a total scope of at least 8 SWS. In addition, the practical semester must be completed in a field of action of the profile "Help for children, young people and their families" and the Bachelor's thesis must be written on a topic related to the theory and field of action "Help for children, young people and their families".

Please note that there is no entitlement to participation in a specific course/the assignment of a specific topic for the BA thesis.

School social work is becoming increasingly attractive as a field of social work. The faculty's excellent networking with schools and school social work coordination offices ensures the best conditions for working in this field.

The courses for this certificate are designed in such a way that students can select courses on basic and in-depth insights into the framework conditions, methods and challenges of school social work as part of their generalist studies and specialize in the field. A certificate of specialization can be issued if all courses in the certificate are attended regularly.

Certificate
The Landesarbeitsgemeinschaft Schulsozialarbeit NRW and Fachhochschule Dortmund award a certificate upon successful completion of the course and submission of proof of attendance.

Proof of participation

• Participation in at least one non-university congress/workshop or specialist conference
• Participation in at least one event organized by the LAG Schulsozialarbeit NRW
• Participation in a joint event with student teachers from TU Dortmund University (proof required)

Compulsory modules
You can complete the following modules with the corresponding examinations at any time during your studies. Of course, it makes sense to do this in the chronology provided for in the curriculum.

• K01: Field of action school social work (term paper on school social work, seminar on counseling skills, pedagogical group work, etc.)
• W02: Social work as a science (term paper on school/school social work/education or similar)
• W03: Psychology (seminar on counseling, free choice)
• W04: Sociology (seminar on educational inequalities or similar)
• W05: Law (focus on child and youth welfare)
• W06: Educational science (justice in education or similar)
• K09: Practical semester in school social work
• K11: Project in the field of school/school social work/other educational contexts
• W13: Degree (BA thesis on the topic of school social work)
• At least one additional course on: child protection, conflict/mediation or similar.

If you focus your studies in the Bachelor of Social Work on the field of offender support, you can receive a certificate after graduation.

You must fulfill the following requirements for the Z4:

In the course of your studies, you must have attended courses in at least 3 different modules totaling at least 8 SWS and either completed them with an examination, taken a course assignment in them or provided qualified proof of attendance as defined in consultation with the respective lecturer. The conditions for a qualified proof of participation are determined by the respective lecturers of the courses themselves. It is only required if you have not already completed an examination or SL there.

All modules except K09 and W13 are eligible for this (see below). You can recognize relevant courses by the fact that they are listed in HISinOne as suitable for the Z-Profile Criminal Justice. However, there may also be suitable courses that do not have this designation. Please discuss this with the profile coordinator in advance. Courses that are offered regularly and count towards the profile are

• W05.1: Criminal law and criminological basics (Dr. Hannah Oldenbruch)
• W05.2: Criminal sanctions: Law and Criminology (Prof. Dr. Christine Graebsch)
• K11: In-depth studies in the field of offender assistance by Prof. Dr. Christine Graebsch, e.g. "Project Yellow Letter"
• W10: Irregular offers by Prof. Dr. Christine Graebsch on topics of the penal system, offender support and criminology

Please note that there is no entitlement to participation in a specific course/the allocation of a specific topic for the BA thesis. The allocation of course places and topics for the BA Thesis is subject to the usual allocation procedure. We merely give you the opportunity to provide evidence of individual achievements that you have made as part of your studies in relation to the theoretical and practical field of "Offender Support". It is your responsibility (and unfortunately also depends on a bit of luck so that you can actually attend the courses you want) to ensure that you achieve as much as possible in the area of the B profile "Offender Support".

In addition, you must complete the practical semester in a field of activity of the "Offender Support" profile. To be on the safe side, please check with the profile coordinator in advance whether the requirements are met by the planned practical placement.

Furthermore, the Bachelor's thesis must be written on a topic related to criminology or the theory and action field of "Offender Assistance". Please note that it is not only the topic that is important, but that the thesis must also be supervised by at least one teacher who is qualified in the relevant subject area. Please discuss this with the coordinator in advance.

It is also your responsibility to provide evidence of your achievements. In the case of the "Qualified Attendance Certificate", you must take care of this immediately after the course; lecturers will not issue a certificate of achievement at a later date.

Please use the forms "Qualified proof of participation", "Certificate of practical semester" and "Certificate of the BA thesis in the B profile "Criminal Justice". Please ensure that you are issued with a certificate immediately after completing the respective course.

The certificate will only be issued after you have completed your studies. Please contact the certificate coordinator by email at christine.graebschfh-dortmundde . Please list all courses with their name, number of semester weeks, lecturer, semester of attendance and type of proof. This must be done no later than two weeks after your de-registration.

Exceptions to the listed requirements are not excluded, for example for dual students who do not have an internship semester. It is important that you have acquired special knowledge in the field of criminal assistance and criminology. Please also discuss the possibilities in this regard with the coordinator.

The "Migration Law" certificate includes courses that provide a (migration) law profile in the degree program. The profiling takes place on the one hand through participation in corresponding courses and on the other hand through participation in the so-called "Legal Clinic".

A certificate in "Migration Law" is only awarded if the following achievements in the Bachelor of Social Work are proven:

• Successful and active participation in a migration law course in the module "Law and Administration" (qualified proof of participation and proof through module part examination, 6 ECTS)
• Successful and active participation in at least two further courses with a migration law context in other modules (qualified proof of participation and proof by at least two module or partial module examinations)
• Active counseling - after successful completion of the module "Law and Administration" - for the duration of at least two semesters in the "Legal Clinic" (qualified proof of participation)
