Another protest camp on campus

Published

On their own initiative, students have once again set up a protest camp for peace in the Middle East on the Emil-Figge-Straße campus. The assembly was registered with the police and approved.

According to the organizers, the initiative is intended to "inform students and the general public about the situation in the Middle East and raise awareness of the need for a peaceful solution." It will be set up on the meadow of the so-called HGÜ site of TU Dortmund University (at Emil-Figge-Straße 51). According to the announcement, it will start on June 19, 2024 at 5 p.m. and is scheduled to last two weeks.

The university management of TU and FH see universities as places of critical discourse, dialog and academic and social debate. The right to freedom of expression must be upheld. They have already commented on this in advance.

In dialog with the initiators, the university management agreed in advance that university operations must not be impaired and that the forms of protest must be legally compliant. Any form of anti-Semitism, discrimination and violence is a red line that will not be tolerated.

In order to ensure the safety of everyone, TU and UAS are in close contact with the police.
