Review: E-TEMS 2025 conference was a great success

Published

The IEEE EUROPEAN TECHNOLOGY & ENGINEERING MANAGEMENT SUMMIT (E-TEMS) 2025 took place between May 26 and 28, 2025 on the Bruges campus of the KU Leuven. Fachhochschule Dortmund participated with a large delegation, both in the organization and with scientific contributions.

The first day of the conference was dedicated to a welcome reception and networking event. This allowed the participating researchers to exchange ideas before the two subsequent days continued with lively discussions, networking, workshops and presentations on topics such as "Digital transformation", "Engineering Smart Systems", "Developing Smart Regions", "Being Mobile in Smart Regions", "Sustainable & Circular Economy", "Achieving Quality of Life in Smart Cities through Projects", "Education in Engineering & Management", "Modern Project Management in Smart Regions and Resilience of Organizations" and "Networks and Cities".

A considerable number of papers were dedicated to the topic of artificial intelligence in various application areas. In total, 220 authors from 58 universities and organizations from 26 different countries contributed to 59 papers presented during the IEEE E-TEMS 2025 conference. Over the entire conference series, representatives from 55 different countries participated.

The IEEE E-TEMS evolved over the years from an onsite event (2020) to an online event (2021 and 2022) and finally to a combination of both in 2023 and 2025. The hybrid format of the event allowed participants to attend both from home and onsite in Bruges. This was supported by numerous online, on-site and hybrid elements of the conference, such as the online poster session and livestreaming of key conference parts.

Fachhochschule Dortmund made a significant contribution to the conference program with a large number of scientific contributions, making it rich and wide-ranging:
