With the SommerFHestival, Fachhochschule Dortmund gave its students, teaching staff and employees as well as all friends of the university a brilliant anniversary highlight. BOSSE, Kapelle Petra and Rikas warmed up the FHestival guests in front of the blast furnace on Phoenix West on June 18, 2022 - and they were still willing to dance even in temperatures well over 30 degrees.
In addition to the drinks stands, the free water stations on the FHestival site were a popular meeting point. These had been organized at short notice in view of the weather forecast, as Fachhochschule Dortmund had chosen the hottest day of the year so far for its anniversary SummerFHestival. At least as coveted: a place under the orange parasols with the best view of the large stage in front of the spectacular backdrop of the blast furnace.
Dancing with BOSSE
From this stage that evening, singer-songwriter BOSSE urged the audience: "So dance like it's the last dance". The 4,000 or so FHestival visitors followed unconditionally and sang along to "Schönste Zeit".
The band Kapelle Petra demonstrated their qualities as an outstanding live band and encouraged the guests to dance their way to a "Bundesjugendspiele participation certificate" in the blazing afternoon sun. The Stuttgart quartet Rikas had previously opened the Fachhochschule Dortmund SummerFHestival with music after a warm-up by DJanes Rosa and Sini LikkleLuv. Meanwhile, it wasn't just the children among the guests who used the garden water sprinkler to cool down their entire bodies.
3,500 euros for aid projects
"What happens today is not relevant to exams," promised Prof. Dr. Volker Helm, Vice-Rector for Research and Transfer at Dortmund University of Applied Sciences and Arts, in his brief welcome address. He also used his appearance on the FHestival stage to promote support for the "Grenzenlose Wärme" association founded by Fachhochschule Dortmund students and the Neven Subotic Foundation. Anyone who did not want to exchange their deposit cup for money could hand it in at donation collection points. This raised a total of more than 3,500 euros, all of which will go to charitable projects. The Neven Subotic Foundation works to provide clean drinking water in regions of the global South. The "Grenzenlose Wärme" association is active in refugee aid and recently organized aid transports to Ukraine - including IT equipment donated by Fachhochschule Dortmund.
After the closing in front of the big stage on Phoenix West, many of the FHestival guests continued dancing in Dortmund's clubs. Prof. Dr. Ruth Kaesemann and Oliver Seifert from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering played at the official after-show party at Spirit 2.0. There were also little surprises for visitors to the SommerFHestival in other nightclubs.
