A regular event on the Fachhochschule Dortmund calendar is the annual gathering of former employees. This year, 39 lecturers and staff members who are now enjoying their well-deserved retirement took the opportunity to stay connected with the university and learn about current developments there.
As in previous years, the event on October 22 at the Ringhotel Drees once again provided a space for lively discussion. The format has become well-established over the years and exemplifies an appreciative work environment that continues even after retirement. “We are always delighted by the positive response and feedback we receive every year,” emphasize Sabine Klein and Clauda Barth on behalf of the organizing team. “It’s especially nice to see how well the gathering is received by colleagues who have only recently retired.”
The University's Outlook: Financial Situation and the Future of the Campus
One item on the meeting’s agenda was the report by the president, Prof. Dr. Tamara Appel. She updated those present on the latest developments in teaching, new projects at Fachhochschule Dortmund and Arts, as well as the challenging financial situation facing universities of applied sciences in the state. The Rector also focused on a key issue for the university’s future—the current status of strategic campus planning. With the New Master Plan and the ongoing workshop process, the university is currently making significant strides toward its goal of bringing together the faculties and locations, which are currently spread across various city districts, onto a single, central campus.
