Two representatives from the renowned Seikei University in Osaka visited the Faculty of Design. There they signed a Memorandum of Understanding as an important step towards long-term cooperation.
Prof. Hidezumi Kadowaki, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Art, and Prof. Koji Yamanaka from the same faculty took part in a two-day exchange. At Fachhochschule Dortmund, they were given a comprehensive insight into the diverse work areas and workshops of the Faculty of Design.
Their stay in Dortmund was a return visit to the trip by Prof. Lioudmila Voropai and Prof. Andreas Pawlitzki, who had visited the Japanese university in advance. In Dortmund, in addition to intensive discussions about possible cooperation formats, they signed a Memorandum of Understanding expressing their desire for a long-term partnership.
Workshop with students from both countries
An initial joint project is already being planned: an interdisciplinary workshop entitled "Noise - Silence in Everybody's Life" is expected to take place in the summer semester of 2026 with students from both universities. This will be supervised by Prof. Kadowaki and Prof. Yamanaka together with the UAS professors Lioudmila Voropai, Jens Müller and Andreas Pawlitzki.
The workshop focuses on an international approach that aims to connect students from both countries. Together, different approaches to perception and design will be developed, reflected upon and transferred into an exhibition context. A particular aim of the workshop is to present the resulting works to the public in both Japan and Germany.
